Our Story
Parlogis builds on a solid foundation that dates back to 1919
Initially, the activity included importing medicines, pharmaceutical materials, and nursing products for doctors and health institutions. Today, the core of our business is servicing companies in the healthcare sector with extensive product management and logistical services.
1919
Pharmacist Stefán Thorarensen receives a pharmacy license on March 25, 1919 with a document from the King of Denmark. Subsequently, he founds Laugavegs apotek and the wholesaler Stefán Thorarensen hf.
Initially, the activity included importing medicines, pharmaceutical materials, and nursing products for doctors and health institutions. Later, Stefán began the production of medicine and purchased the first tablet-pressing machine in 1930.
The government’s drug store was established and was part of the government’s alcohol store.
The alcohol store was located in Nýborg at Skúlagata, and for a long time it was the only alcohol outlet in the town. Organized production of intravenous drugs started later on, or in 1954.

The business consisted of importing sports goods, shoes and tires. Later, nursing products, medicines and alcohol were added to the product range.

2002
The distribution department of Lyfjaverslun and Lyfjadreifing merge at the beginning of 2002. The newly founded company, Lyfjadreifing, becomes a subsidiary of Líf hf.
At the beginning of 2004, Lyfjadreifing became a much more independent company than before, with its own management and significant separation from the operation of Líf hf, and that independence created a basis for its current activities.
2004
2005
In 2005, Lyfjadreifing underwent a rebranding and was renamed Parlogis. This change was made to better reflect the company’s focus on providing comprehensive product management services within the health and wellness industry.
